What this viewer shows

What to look for
Use the Peace Column as the surviving anchor. Then read the north-south axis, the missing gatehouses and the smaller postwar inner ring around the present square.
Use it on the street
Stand south of the Friedenssäule and face north. Start with the column, then look through the opening toward Friedrichstraße and compare the scale of the public space around you.
My guide note
Do not force two old and current photographs into a perfect overlay. Different lenses and viewpoints can create a dramatic but false match. The useful evidence is the object, street line and gap you can verify on site.
