The Wall came down in 1989 and the city closed over the line, so there is no sign telling you which side you are on. What there is instead is a set of small tells: the crossing figure with the hat, a double row of cobblestones underfoot, which skyline is in front of you. Tick what you can actually see and this weighs them up, including the honest cases where the signals cancel out.
