Doors and escalators
Wait at the sides, let passengers leave, then board and move into the carriage. On busy escalators, stand on the right and leave the left clear. Many train doors open only after you press the illuminated button or use the older handle.
Food, bikes and tickets
Current VBB conditions prohibit boarding with open food or open drinks and consuming them during the journey. A bike normally needs its own ticket and the marked area, with wheelchairs and prams taking priority when space is limited; current guidance has no blanket weekday rush-hour ban. Travelling without a valid ticket can lead to a €60 EBE notice.
