Which Berlin Tenant Association Would Cover the Letter You Are Expecting?

Fees and waiting periods from the associations’ own pages: Berliner Mieterverein 132 euro a year plus 7.50 euro once, cover after three months from the 1st of the joining month, minimum 24 months. Berliner MieterGemeinschaft 75 euro a year with cover, one month waiting period from payment. Most Berlin tenants join an association on the evening a letter arrives, and that is the one letter the legal cover will not pay for. Every association has a waiting period, and none covers a problem that already existed when you signed. Put in your dates and see which one would already be running.
Why the joining month matters
The Berliner Mieterverein starts your membership on the 1st of the month in which your form arrives, so the day of the month makes no difference. Join in September and the cover runs from 1 December.
The shortest wait in the city
The Berliner MieterGemeinschaft covers court costs one month after your fee arrives, the Mieterschutzbund six weeks after you add its optional cover.
Advice is not the same as cover
Every association gives advice from the first day. The legal cost cover only pays for a problem that began after the waiting period, and the free district advice offices never pay court costs.
What this tool cannot know
It compares dates. The association decides when your dispute began, and a problem you already knew about when you joined is excluded everywhere.
