Use it before you set out for the day. If you are short on time, start with Haus Schwarzenberg by Hackescher Markt, which is free and central. If street art is really your thing, the tool tells you which longer trips, like Teufelsberg, actually pay off.
Local guide note
My honest take is that most visitors only ever see the East Side Gallery and assume that is all there is. It is not. The living scene is in Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg, and the easiest piece of all sits five minutes from where my walking tour ends.
