Berlin exit signs are named after streets, never after the thing you came to see. Pick one of four big central stations and where you are heading, and the map shows which Ausgang surfaces closest, plus how many extra metres every other exit costs you.

Berlin exit signs are named after streets
Berlin does not label a station exit with a number or with the thing you came to see. It labels it with the road it opens onto. The sign says Ausgang Dircksenstrasse or Ausgang Kantstrasse, and if those words mean nothing to you, you pick one and hope. This map turns the street name back into the landmark you were actually looking for.
Pick a station, then pick where you are going
Four central stations are in the tool: Alexanderplatz, Zoologischer Garten, Potsdamer Platz and Friedrichstrasse. Choose your destination and the map highlights the exit that surfaces closest to it, greys out the rest, and shows the real walking penalty for each alternative in metres.
The numbers come from real station data
Exit positions and the street each one opens onto are taken from OpenStreetMap station entrance data, checked on 22 August 2026, and the distances are straight-line metres from the exit door to the destination. At Zoologischer Garten the Kantstrasse exit is 55 metres from the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and the Hardenbergplatz exits are 256 metres away, which is the widest gap in central Berlin.
