Mushroom picking around Berlin does not need a car. Four of the city forests and six Brandenburg woods sit on the S-Bahn and regional network, and this board plots all ten by real Saturday-morning travel time from Alexanderplatz, with the ground type, the access walk and the law that applies in each one.

The board reads like a station clock for forests: Alexanderplatz sits in the middle, the rings mark 30, 60 and 90 minutes, and each numbered stop is a forest in its real compass direction. Why travel time beats distance
The Liepnitzwald is closer to Alexanderplatz than Bad Belzig as the crow flies, but the Heidekrautbahn only leaves Berlin-Karow twice an hour, so the board ranks by the thing you actually spend: minutes on a Saturday morning, sampled from live VBB journeys. That is also why Königs Wusterhausen at the end of the S46 can lose to Chorin on the RE3, which is twice as far away.
Reading the ground types
Pine ground on Brandenburg sand is bay-bolete country, and it is what most of the region grows.
