What this tool does
A layover looks longer than it is. This planner subtracts the real airport buffers, getting off the plane, any passport control, the train each way, and being back at BER security before boarding, then shows the city time you actually have and what fits it.
Best use
Run it before you commit to leaving the airport. Under about 4 hours it keeps you airside; around 5 to 6 hours it points you at the flat historic-centre walk from Alexanderplatz; more than that and it lets you slow down or add a museum.
Local guide note
The S9 runs straight from under Terminal 1 to Alexanderplatz with no change, and BER is in fare zone C so you need an ABC ticket. Store your bag in a station locker at Alexanderplatz and keep one eye on the clock.
