Berlin Evening Cascade: What Is Still Open Tonight

Central Berlin switches off in a staircase, not all at once. Pick a date, drag one playhead through the evening, and watch sixteen sights close behind you against the real sunset and blue hour for that night.

Sixteen central Berlin closing times on one axis, with the sky behind them.

Choose the evening you are in Berlin and drag the marker from 16:00 to midnight. The rows sort themselves by that night closing time, so you can see the order the city switches off in, how many places are still open at any minute, and which one goes next. Opening hours were checked on 22 August 2026 against each venue own published times, and the sunset and twilight bands are calculated for central Berlin.

Central Berlin closes in a staircase, not all at once

Between 17:00 and 18:30 almost every ticketed sight in the middle of Berlin shuts, and it does it in a specific order. The Altes Museum and the Bode-Museum go at 17:00 from Tuesday to Friday. The Neues Museum, the Pergamon Panorama and the James-Simon-Galerie go at 18:00. The Humboldt Forum holds on until 18:30. This tool puts that order on one axis so you can see it instead of discovering it at a locked door.

Drag the playhead and watch what you lose

Pick the date you are actually in Berlin, then drag the marker across the evening. Sixteen central venues are sorted by that night closing time, so the chart reads as a staircase. The panel above it tells you how many are still open at that exact minute, which one closes next and how long you have, including the last-admission rule at the Berliner Dom and the Holocaust Memorial information centre.

The sky band is the real Berlin sky

The coloured strip behind the chart is sunset and the end of civil twilight, calculated for central Berlin for the date you pick. That matters more than people expect. Sunset is about 20:20 in late August and about 15:55 on 21 December, a swing of more than four hours, so a plan that works in August is the wrong plan in November. Opening hours were checked on 22 August 2026 against each venue own published times.
